I did not want to hook the straps to the truck so i bought rope and some tie down stakes and just staked them to the ground. (Just slightly less than "like a glove" :)) we went camping on an incredibly warm and windy night and this tent never moved, but the sides and door area allowed ample wind flow to keep us cool. UPDATE: We've now had this tent for three years and have used it numerous times.
